Droppings from the Nest, July 16th-17th
Coming off of their five-game road trip in Vancouver, the Boise Hawks have come back to Boise shouting “Honey, I’m home!”
The Hawks won their second in a row against the Yakima Bears last night. Logan Watkins has extended his hitting streak to eight games now, going 4-5 on Wednesday and 5-6 last night. Additionally, new Hawk and first baseman Justin Bour hit the first Hawks home run at Memorial this season–I know the fans have been waiting on that one!
Now let’s get to those droppings:
- The Idaho Statesman gets the prize today for the most Hawks coverage, running recaps of Wednesday’s 9-8 win and Thursday’s 14-5 win over Yakima, a feature on outfielder Runey Davis, a feature on Justin Bour and a promotional piece for Saturday’s American Red Cross Night.
- Will Love from the Idaho Press-Tribune looks at last night’s win over Yakima and takes “an inning with” Logan Watkins.
- Check out KBCI Channel 2’s J Bates’ recaps and highlights of Wednesday’s and Thursday’s home wins.
Also, some roster moves you may not be aware or: pitcher Miguel Sierra, catcher Alvaro Sosa and infielder Jordan Petraitis were all sent to Mesa on Wednesday. In return, pitcher Eduardo Figueroa, catcher Richard Jones and first baseman Justin Bour were all promoted to Boise. Jones and Bour were both members of this year’s draft class–Jones a 9th rounder out of The Citadel and Bour a 25th rounder out to George Mason.
Droppings from the Nest, June 30th
NOTE: Tonight’s game against Yakima will start at 6:30 p.m.
Hawks won their second-straight in victory against Yakima last night! Greg Rohan hit a walk-off RBI single to win the game, 3-2, in the 10th. It was so great to see all of the players rush the field and swarm around Manager Casey Kopitzke, who is 2-0 since re-joining the team.
So because of that awesome news, there are bound to be some good droppings today!

- Of course the Idaho Statesman had a story about last night’s extra-inning rally, but Chris Langrill also addresses the Hawks’ slow start and how that doesn’t determine success one way or the other.
- The Idaho Press-Tribune’s Trent Lootens covers the Hawks’ second-straight win plus “An Inning With…” pitcher Miguel Sierra.
